White Ruffled Chair Slipcovers ~ made by me!

Happy Monday to all my friends out in blogland! Here in Michigan we finally got our first official significant snow over the weekend. I'm not too happy about it, because I am not much of a snow lover, lol. I like having snow for Christmas day, but that is it.

Today I wanted to share with you what I did/created over the weekend. I've been wanting some slipcovers for my dining room chairs, and I have been so loving the ones that Janet Coon makes over at Shabbyfufu, that I got inspired to try my hand at making something similar to them. I found the perfect soft white cotton sheet & pillowcases at Goodwill, and a few days ago found not 1 but 2 flowing ruffly tiered white skirts also at Goodwill, that I knew would be PERFECT for the bottoms of the slipcovers.

Now, this was my first time EVER trying to make chair slipcovers, and wasn't quite sure how they would turn out....I have to say, I am rather pleased with the results. I simply cut and pinned everything into place with the materials on the chairs (inside out), of course, and went straight to my sewing machine, and began sewing it all together. Then turned them right-side out, and placed them onto the chairs, and tah-dah! They actually fit !! I was beyond relieved...and so happy!

So today, I put together a little vignette with the completed slipcovers....

For both of the slipcovers, I added a sweet little pleated ruffle to the top, which I think makes a nice finishing touch.

I still have 2 more chairs that need slipcovers made for them, so I am on the hunt for 2 more flirty white skirts to use....I don't come by them all that often, and I have to make sure that they are nice a wide & full, in order for them to work. I found a ruffled layered one a while back, but it's not full enough to work...so disappointed because it would make for a fabulous slipcover. Perhaps one day I will find a smaller, narrower chair that would work for it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by...LOVE having you visit!!!

Linking up with Shabby Art Boutique for Shabbilicious Friday. Be sure to stop by and see all the others who are joing in!
