A few Antique Treasures

Good Monday to all of you!

Today I thought I would share the things that I found while out doing a little Antique shopping with my hubby on Saturday ~ we celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary a couple of days early, since our actual Anniversary is today, the 30th, and lands on a week day ~ The plan was to spend the whole day out Saturday, but Friday afternoon, I began to not feel well at all, and wasn't sure if we would be able to do anything at all Saturday ~ so, when I got up Saturday morning, I seemed to feel "okay", so told hubby that we could just do something for half of the day ~ we ended up hitting some Antique shoppes around Muskegon & Grand Haven, Michigan, as they were only about an hours drive or so away. We did go out to lunch at Applebee's, which was really nice ~ still didn't have too much of an appetite, but did enjoy some of my Three Cheese Chicken & Penne pasta ~ the rest I brought back home with me, and had for lunch on Sunday...so all was good, lol :)

Here are the treasures that I found Saturday......first are these vintage sewing machine drawers, which we got both for just $8..... I'll be painting these white, of course, and will post pics once I have them finished.

Next is some wonderful Vintage lace trims.....my favorite is the crochet with the heart design....

Some Vintage glass buttons....Love these

Vintage Pearl buttons...

and even some Vintage pink pearl buttons....LOVE these!!

Below is a photo of a Quilted patchwork pillow cover that I started over a week ago, and FINALLY finished today....I've used some of the vintage pearl buttons that I found on Saturday to embellish on the pillow. It's now available for purchase in my Ebay shoppe ~ It will need a 14" pillow insert, which can be found at any craft or fabric store.

UPDATE: This pillow is now Sold

Have a wonderful week everyone ~ until next time sweet friends.....

Goodwill Treasures for White Wednesday ~ Giveaway continues

Hello everyone ~ hope you are all trying to stay cool in the excessively hot weather that most of the country is in ~ I've been spending most of my days staying inside our home with the central air! It's suppose to be a bit less warmer tomorrow, in the mid 80's (as if that is any cooler), but we'll take it.

Today I had to run to the store to pick up a couple of things, and decided to stop at that town's Goodwill store, though at first I was tempted not to, but then decided, "why not", and I am so glad that I did, as I brought home the 3 white treasures that you see in the photo below.

First up is this sweet little gravy boat and plate ~ I have a couple of other pieces in this same pattern; a mug, covered sugar, and a medium and small pitcher.

Next is this cute 7 1/4" plate ~ sweet details around the rim. There's no makers mark on the back.

Now this is the BEST find of the day! This is a platter, marked on the back: England, W. H. GRINDLEY & CO. I don't know a lot about this company other than a quick google search to find that it was founded in 1880. And the price I paid for this platter? A mere one dollar !!

love these swirls on the sides....

and these cute little "dots" around the edge...

Below is a close-up photo of the makers mark...

My "Christmas in July" giveaway is still going on ~ you still have until July 23rd to get your entry (entries) in ~ Just click on the Giveaway button/link at the top of my sidebar to take you to that post ~ the winner will be chosen from one of the comments left on that post.

Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my Goodwill white treasures ~ be sure to stop by Kathleen's blog, FADED CHARM to see all the other wonderful & chic whites to be seen.

Antique & Thrift Store finds

I hope everyone is staying cool in this crazy hot weather ~ I know I've been enjoying our Central Air! I do venture outside, but ONLY for a very short time.

Today I thought I would share with you some wonderful treasures I've found over the past week or so, at some of my favorite thrift stores and Antique Mall.

First up are these 2 items that I purchased today at a local Antique Mall in a neighboring town ~ the sweet mirror is my favorite, as I've been wanting one of these Venetian style mirrors for a while, but depending on the size, they can be a bit pricey ~ this one wasn't bad at $14. And the 4 plates were a good buy at $10 for all 4. They're not antique, or vintage, so was a bit surprised to find them at the Antique store, but I just fell in love with the detail on them, and the pretty soft blue color.

Here is a close-up of the mirror.

Next up are some things that I have found at one of our local Goodwill stores, and a local Consignment shoppe... first is this sweet glass bottle with stopper...I'm thinking of embellishing it with some vintage millinery roses and ribbons.

Here we have a sweet frame, which I have already painted white. The photo is of my paternal Grandfather's second to youngest sister.

This 3-tier metal basket. Didn't have to do a thing with it, as it was already painted white.

This is one of my favorite frames to find ~ love the details on it, and of course, already painted it white. It didn't come with any glass in it, which is okay, I can just display it as is. It's made of metal, and is quite heavy.

In this photo you will see another frame that I found and painted white. I love finding these style of frames, as they remind me of lace. This is the largest I have found of this type....I'm on the look - out for just the right print to place inside of it.

The last thing I wanted to show you is one of my newest offerings that I have currently listed on Ebay. Love how this accent pillow turned out, and I even added some dainty vintage lace to the ruffle.

Stay Cool everyone ! Until next time sweet friends.
