White Ruffled Chair Slipcovers ~ made by me!

Happy Monday to all my friends out in blogland! Here in Michigan we finally got our first official significant snow over the weekend. I'm not too happy about it, because I am not much of a snow lover, lol. I like having snow for Christmas day, but that is it.

Today I wanted to share with you what I did/created over the weekend. I've been wanting some slipcovers for my dining room chairs, and I have been so loving the ones that Janet Coon makes over at Shabbyfufu, that I got inspired to try my hand at making something similar to them. I found the perfect soft white cotton sheet & pillowcases at Goodwill, and a few days ago found not 1 but 2 flowing ruffly tiered white skirts also at Goodwill, that I knew would be PERFECT for the bottoms of the slipcovers.

Now, this was my first time EVER trying to make chair slipcovers, and wasn't quite sure how they would turn out....I have to say, I am rather pleased with the results. I simply cut and pinned everything into place with the materials on the chairs (inside out), of course, and went straight to my sewing machine, and began sewing it all together. Then turned them right-side out, and placed them onto the chairs, and tah-dah! They actually fit !! I was beyond relieved...and so happy!

So today, I put together a little vignette with the completed slipcovers....

For both of the slipcovers, I added a sweet little pleated ruffle to the top, which I think makes a nice finishing touch.

I still have 2 more chairs that need slipcovers made for them, so I am on the hunt for 2 more flirty white skirts to use....I don't come by them all that often, and I have to make sure that they are nice a wide & full, in order for them to work. I found a ruffled layered one a while back, but it's not full enough to work...so disappointed because it would make for a fabulous slipcover. Perhaps one day I will find a smaller, narrower chair that would work for it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by...LOVE having you visit!!!

Linking up with Shabby Art Boutique for Shabbilicious Friday. Be sure to stop by and see all the others who are joing in!

Until next time sweet friends!!

Last Christmas Stockings for 2012 on Ebay

Hello everyone! Hope your week has been going good for you so far.

I just wanted to share with you my last 2 Christmas Stockings that I have created and listed on Ebay. I always have so much fun making them, and they are such a wonderful change from the pillows and other cottage items that I create and list. My favorites to have made are like the first one you see below, with lots of pretty vintage and newer laces and buttons. Very Romantic.

Also to show you, are these 2 Vintage items that I have given a make-over to, and also have listed on Ebay right now. Both the sconces in the first photo, and the wall pocket in the 2nd photo were originally bronze/gold in color, but I primed them, then painted them a nice cottage white (spray paint). They look so much better, don't you think :)

You can see these items, and other offerings currently listed in my Ebay by clicking HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ Enjoy the rest of your week!

Until next time sweet friends!

Christmas 2012

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with family & friends. We had my brother Dale & SIL Anne, and their daughter Susi and her boyfriend Dan over, as well, as our daughter, Amber, SIL Kevin, sweet Grandson Seth, and our oldest son Brian, and youngest son Austin. Then, lucky me, I came down with the flu that night! I was down for the count for a couple of days, but am feeling so much more better today.

I usually get our tree up the day after turkey day, but had to postpone it for a couple of days....but now I have it all up and ready to show all of you!

I bought a new/used tree at a garage sale over the summer, one a bit smaller and thinner than our old one, and am liking it sooo much better. I did take some white spray paint to it, to soften up the green a bit, and really like it.

Found this vintage tree topper several years ago at an Antique store, and think she looks just perfect on this tree :)

I have several of Rebecca's (A Gathering Place), beautifully painted ornaments on the tree. I've been purchasing a new one every year for about 3 years or so.

Also decorating the tree are large pink roses, faux baby's breath, creamy white pearl strands, pink ribbon, pink painted stars, and some crochet ornaments that I purchased on QVC several years ago.

This tree skirt is another purchase I won on Ebay from the very talented Miss Rebecca.

Also decorated for Christmas is my Fireplace/Mantle. You'll see 2 shimmery silver Reindeer, vintage pink Mercury Glass ornaments, a wired angel, painted white, and cottage white vintage garland, and of course, 4 pretty Christmas stockings, made by me. The one on the right is one I made last year, and the other 3 were made this year.

The dining room is the only room I've chosen to decorate for Christmas this year, as it will make it much easier when it comes time to pack things up after the New Year, not to mention a 14 month old Grandson who loves to get into everything!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my Christmas for 2012!

Until next time sweet friends!!

More Romantic Stockings

Hello everyone ~ I hope your week is going good so far. We're suppose to have some warm temperatures starting tomorrow, and could get up into the 60's by Saturday. Crazy!

Today I thought I would share with you a couple of new stockings that I have created and listed on Ebay. The first one is my first done in a much smaller size than what I usually make, and is soooo sweet. Done with a Vintage pale icy pink Damask, and layered with lovely vintage linens, laces, ribbons, and shell buttons.

This one, done in my traditional size, features beautiful fabrics done in shades of Burgandy red and crisp white, and accented with vintage lace, newer ribbon trims, and both new and vintage fluers.

My Baby boy

Hello, and happy Monday everyone.

In my last post I told of my son's Varsity Tigers football team making the Playoffs, and the big game was this past Friday (26th). Sadly, they lost the game to our neighboring rivals, the Newaygo Lions.

Austin and I were to have our picture taken together after the game by the mother of one of the players, who has her own Photography business. But everyone was just too emotional to have them taken ~ can't get a good picture if everyone is crying :(
Anyways, she offered to come out to our home Sunday afternoon to take our picture together, as she was also doing so for another mom and her Football son.

Thought I would share this special photo with my blogging friends. He may tower over me, but he is still my baby boy !

First Round Football Playoffs

Hello Everyone ~ Just a little quick post today :)

Tonight my son Austin's Football team will be playing against our Arch Rivals, the Newaygo Lions, in the first round of the Playoffs ~ Newaygo is our closest neighboring town, and had been in the same Conference as us, but at the end of the season last year they chose to leave it for another (shall we say Easier) Conference, and as luck would have it, our teams were paired together for the first round ! Players and parents were together for a little Party this past Sunday to watch the selection on TV, and a HUGE cheer erupted in the room when it showed us put together !

There is a lot of excitement in our town, and a HUGE crowd is expected at tonights game, which will be at Newaygo.

I hope you will wish my son, and our Grant Tigers luck tonight ~ It's going to be a great game !!

More Christmas Stockings

Hello Everyone! Just a really quick little post this evening to show you a couple of new Christmas Stockings that I have available right now on Ebay. You can click the link near the top of my sidebar to whisk you away to my Ebay site.

This first one is a sweet Patchwork style stocking, made with ONLY pretty rosey prints from the Mary Rose collections, and features lovely vintage laces, ribbons, glass and shell buttons....

This one features a really sweet Image of a Victorian girl holding onto some pretty freshly picked pink roses ~ I used fabrics that compliment the Image, with pinks and blues, and gorgeous vintage rose patterned lace inserted with Vintage blue double-faced satin ribbon, and Vintage Millinery near the top...

I had planned on getting one or 2 more stockings made this week, but so far have not had the time.....hopefully I can get to making them this weekend.

This Friday may be our son Austin's last Football game :( Last Friday was their last home game (which we won, 31-6), and at school the Seniors dedicated their "Away" Jerseys, and Austin dedicated his to me, his mama. After the game, all the Senior players lined up at one end of the football field, and slowly walked all the way across to the other side....it was very emotional for all of them, and to us parents. I was waiting at the other end of the field for him, and we gave each other a big hug.....so very proud of him!!!

Until next time sweet friends!!

Mirror before & After ~ New Christmas Stockings

A couple of days ago while checking out my favorite Thirft stores, I happened upon finding this beautiful mirror; now, it isn't vintage or old either, but it definitely has that wonderful vintage feel to it, and for just $4, I wasn't about to pass it up.

The first 2 photos show the before pics of the mirror ~ I love the oval shape of the mirror itself, and the beautiful details of the frame....just didn't care too much for the gold color.

So, the other day I primed it, and today I gave it a couple coats of one of my favorite spray paint colors, Dover White, by Krylon Fusion, and here she is....

I've placed the mirror on the overmantle above my fireplace, and I think it's the perfect place to display it...

I also wanted to share with you some pretty Christmas stockings that I have listed and available on Ebay....It's hard to believe that Christmas is only 2 1/2 months away...geez, where has the time gone?

I also have this sweet accent pillow currently available....Perfect for you pink lovin' gals :)

Thanks so much for stopping by.....sorry I haven't posted in such a long time...no particular reason, just busy with other things, but I will TRY to be a better blogger, okay :)

Until next time sweet friends !!

A Special Birthday Today!

One year ago today a very special little boy made his way into the world ~ today is our Grandson, Seth, first birthday! It is still so hard to believe that he a year old today. No longer a baby, but now a toddler. He has brought so much love & joy into all our families !

This picture below was taken at the end of August, after getting his very first haircut, or should I say trim. Isn't he such a little handsome guy !

Yesterday, our daughter & SIL, Amber & Kevin, had a little party for him to celebrate his birthday. Lots of good food was offered, and Seth really loved eating the strawberries, and especially the blueberries. Even a little of the mac 'n cheese.

Here was all the presents waiting for him to open.....he's not spoiled, no, not at all. He's only the very first grandchild on both sides of the family, :)

The theme for his party was "John Deere", and anything related to farms. This is his huge Cow balloon!

One of the things we got him was a book, that has buttons he can push on it to make farm animal sounds.

This is a farm set he got from his Great Grandma & Grandpa McKinlay.

Again, I say our grandson is not spoiled, lol....here he is sitting on the John Deere Quad that he got from his Grandma & Grandpa Mckinlay....

....and from us, he got his own little red car.....doesn't every 1 year old get 2 vehicles for his birthday, lol :).....nope, not spoiled at all :)

Here is a photo of his birthday cake...isn't it cute!

Time to blow out his candle....Mamma did it for him, since he had no idea what he was suppose to do :)

Boy, did he LOVE eating his cake ! And yes, wearing it too, lol :) Our daughter was very smart and removed all his clothes, except his diaper, before putting him in his highchair and giving him his cake !

By the time the party was over, it was way past his nap time, and when Amber put him down finally for his nap, he went to sleep rather quickly....tired out from all the fun and excitement of his party :)

Thanks so much for stopping by as I shared this special day with all of you !

Until next time sweet friends !!
